Nori Kajio is a Japanese-born taiko player, based in Paris.

After researching and experimenting rock drumming and African and Cuban percussions for several years, Nori began playing taiko in 2009. Studied Ōedo Sukueroku style (大江戸助六流)  at Wadaïko Makoto (Paris) and at Oedo Sukeroku Taiko (located in Tokyo) from Master Seïdô Kobayashi, Katsugi-oke from Mark Alcock (Taiko Meantime, London) and Masayuki Sakamoto (Tokyo) and Kotsuzumi (小鼓) of Kōryū (幸流) from Kiyoshi Kawara (Kanazawa, Japan).

Since 2011, Nori has performed in Europe, Africa and Japan with various taiko groups and been actively composing and arranging traditional pieces for taiko groups and solo performances. She also collaborates with a divers range of artists (video artist, dancer, poet, singer, orchestra..).

Highly inspired by both classical and experimental music, she creates percussive and colourful/shaded melody while enhancing the beauty of dynamics of taiko sound. Based on a funk/rock groove, with a meticulous and dynamic African and Afro-Cuban flavour, she seeks her poetic world through traditional Japanese music.
